STEADFAST

The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Lamentations 3:22-23

The LORD’s love never fails nor does it ever stop. The LORD existed before time began and His love did too - we are told that God is love, therefore, Love existed and has always existed. Here’s a SONG that speaks to me of God’s love.

God’s mercies never end too. His mercy is demonstrated to us by His Son. Because we are born to sin, we sin and will always sin, we cannot be in the Presence of a holy God. We simply cannot. But, God made a way - salvation through His Son. Because of God’s love for mankind, He gave His only Son so that all who believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life with Him in heaven (John 3:16).

We’ve laughed at situational comedy where someone is begging for mercy - someone grabbing hold of another, begging, pleading for mercy that what they deserved won’t actually be meted out. In a comedy it can be funny.

In real life it’s vital. We too, when we come fully and confidently to the feet of Jesus and beg for mercy - mercy is extended. We deserve punishment for our sins. We deserve death, eternal separation from God. We cannot be in His presence because of our sinful state.

But God provided a way for us to receive His mercy and live with Him in His Presence - Jesus. He became sin. He, who knew no sin, not only took on my sin, our sin, but became sin itself.

Because of this, when Jesus was on the Cross, His Father had to turn His face away because sin cannot be in the presence of a holy God.

This is love. Unfailing love. Steadfast love.

When the sacrifice was made and the ransom paid, and paid in full by Jesus, we were set free. Mercy was and is extended and grace given.

PRAYER

LORD God, thank You for Your steadfast love. It is manifold and awesome and what I know of Your love is enough to overwhelm me! You never cease to amaze me. Help me to seek You more and more so I can know You more and more. AMEN
